DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - OCTOBER 26, 2019

Shit Art Club opened its doors for the first time and invited the neighborhood to help warm our new home - and shit got hot.

This past week, we just put the finishing touches on our new headquarters located in the front of skid row’s former famed Korean Bath House in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Shit Art Club’s new home features two exhibition spaces, artist studios and the SAC Speakeasy and Dance Hall (which proudly harbors the HMS Bad Tim). To kick things off right, we teamed up with our dear friend Ian Crane to premier his new blockbuster surf flick: BEACH HEAD.

The opening of Shit Art Club Global HQ and BEACH HEAD head premier was far too serendipitous of an occasion to not celebrate. We were a little worried at first cause Crane was moving slow after his home town screening in San Clemente, showed up late, and didn't have the projection equipment. After a few quick beers and some fast thinking, we jammed around town, got what we needed and solved some problems. Still struggling, we walked down the street got the boy some pizza and an apple juice, and returned less than an hour later to DJ Beav spinning some funky deep cuts that had hips shakin’ and drinks flowing. Immediately, Ian beelined to the bar, cracked a beer and was on the prowl. Crane is living proof that the true cure to a nasty hangover is getting flirty on the dance floor. The night escalated quickly and the block got hot. All kinds of strange creatures and wig clad boys and girls were cutting the rug in the backroom and stomping their feet on the main gallery’s checkerboard floor.

Before things got too fuzzy, we cut the lights pressed play and watched Crane, Luke Davis, Brother and The Pintos rip across the gallery walls in what truly was a bat shit crazy work of art. Not long after BEACH HEAD ended, the party picked up where it left off and didn't stop until what the written noise complaints from the neighbors estimate was sometime between 3:00am - 4:00am. Our clock read 69.

Things went per usual but still felt like a magical surprise. There was DEVO, dancing, makin’ out, dancing, sweating, drinking, dancing, Uncle Denny, more makin’ out, people getting naked, art everywhere and a healthy balance of mosh pits, destruction, disco and sing-alongs.

We love Beach Head, Crane and the team that made Beach Head and SAC possible. To all who made that night so special and to those who couldn't join us, please know that our doors, arms, hearts and minds are always open to you. Please stay strange, but don't be a stranger.

If you were lucky enough to be there, we know you saw the light and must be a believer. If you weren’t, wise up and come to the next one. The dark ages are over. Welcome to the SAC Age.
